More shock, more awe!

We found out that I was about 5 weeks along. We were all in shock and trying to wrap our heads around it. My daughter was 13 and had been an only child. In our home and in her fathers home. It had just been the three of us and we were about to add another person to that. As exciting as it was, we were overwhelmed and scared.

I had an appointment at 8 weeks for an ultrasound to see and hear the heart beat. I was so nervous! I was scared that they would find out that it was just a mass of cells, a cyst or tumor that made my body think it was pregnant. I was also nervous that since I am in my late 30's they would find more than one. Not that I wouldn't want that. Just made me nervous.

We all filed into the room where I draped myself in a sheet and patiently waited for the Dr. When he entered the room, the butterflies in my stomach went crazy! My daughter and husband took their places so they could see and the Dr. turned out the light. The Dr. looked around for about a minute and a half without saying a word! It was excruciating! Then he asked if we were all sitting down. He pointed to a spot on the screen and said, "there's a baby here..." then pointed to another spot and said "and a baby here!" It was TWINS!!! He looked a while longer and said that he was pretty sure they were identical but he would be positive in time.

We were ELATED!! Terrified! But elated!! Even while we were trying to get used to the idea (still trying), we started making phone calls. Everyone was OVER THE MOON!! Everyone IS over the moon!!
